Photo copyright


Reproduction of photographic documents downloaded through BALaT or ordered with the KIK-IRPA is subject to the following conditions:


1. Personal use
(dissertations, for example)

"© KIK-IRPA, Brussels" must be mentioned next to each photograph.

 

2. Educational or scientific use (no commercial purpose)

Ask for copyright permission (form). Copyright exemption may be granted for scientific or educational requests.

"© KIK-IRPA, Brussels" must be mentioned next to each photo. If the photo appears on a website, this statement must direct users to www.kikirpa.be.

Provide a voucher copy in every language of the publication (except for exhibition panels and websites) within thirty days after publishing.

 


3. Commercial use

Ask for copyright permission (form). As soon as you receive the invoice, a copyright fee of 30€ must be paid for each photo that you use. "© KIK-IRPA, Brussels" must be mentioned next to each photo. If the photo appears on a website, this statement must direct users to www.kikirpa.be.

Provide a voucher copy in every language of the publication (except for exhibition panels and websites) within thirty days after publishing.

 

Important ! When using photos of works of art, it is possible that you must send a separate request to the Institutions or people holding the copyrights on monuments or works of art you would like to reproduce. You must ask for this authorisation if the author of the work of art has died within 70 years. On the KIK-IRPA website, we mention the name(s) of the copyright holder(s) next to the photo if we know it. For some works of art, permission to publish photographs might need to be requested from their owner institutions.
