IRPA turned 60 : a beautiful commemoration !
A beautiful commemoration for IRPA’s 60th anniversary !
The different events organized for IRPA’s 60th anniversary were a great success :
Press conference and presentation of the book Autour de la Madeleine Renders on September 15
Christopher Hardy, head of the Minister’s office of Scientific Policies, Ms. Laruelle, gave the introductory speech. Then, after a fascinating introduction to the book, the press representatives and other people present were able to visit, witht several authors of the book, the painting workshop and admire Joseph Van der Veken’s work.



Academic session at the Royal Museums of Art and History on September 19
The academic session took place in front of a full audience, in the presence of H.R.H. Princess Astrid. After the opening address of Ms. Laruelle, the Scientific Policies Minister, several of IRPA’s parteners addressed the audience. The session ended with a message from Mounir Bouchenaki of ICCROM in Rome and then Myriam Serck-Dewaide expressed her wishes for the future.
Open Days on September 20 and 21
On the occasion of the Heritage days of the region of Brussels, IRPA opened its doors for the weekend. It was great success and almost 2000 people (1969) came to see the building, its furniture and took part in different activities within the Institute… In the restoration workshops, the visitors were able to closely observe the works of art. Their great interest, linked to the staff’s skill and dedication, brought much enthusiasm!

Open Day on September 20 and 21
IRPA opens its doors to the public. It is a wonderful occasion to discover the architecture of our building, contemporary to the 1958 Universal Exposition, and the how works of art are studied and conserved.
These days are in line with the 2008 Heritage Days: 'Expo 58 : before-after. Brussels’ heritage since World War II.
Everybody is welcome on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 September between 10:00am and 5 :00pm.
For IRPA’s 60th anniversary, other activities are organized:
The new website and the fourth volume of the collection Scientia Artis devoted to the woks of the restorer Joseph Van der Veken : Autour de la Madeleine Renders will be presented during a press conference on September 15
An academic session in presence of H.R.H Princess Astrid will be held on September 19.
