Impressioni d'Italia

Impressioni d'Italia della fototeca dell'Istituto Reale del Patrimonio Artistico di Bruxelles - Roma, Academia Belgica, 11 settembre-6 novembre 2008

For its 60th anniversary, IRPA (The Royal Institute for Cultural Heritage), Belgium’s federal scientific institution, will display a photo exhibition of its photo library, containing more that a million images, in the Academia Belgica (Rome).

In this exhibit, the public can view works of Italian artists who have lived, travelled to or worked in Belgium, works of Belgian artists who have travelled to Italy and Italian works displayed during different exhibits in Belgium. Visitors can discover the photo library online and search it using the computer stands.

Among the works of Italian artists, la Madonna by Michelangelo, conserved in Bruges and a copy Da Vinci’s Last Supper conserved at the Tongerlo abbey, dating back to the 16th century and attributed to Solario, will be particularly honored. The pictures of Diptyque Carrand, a work preceding the Van Eyck era and housed in the Bargello National Museum in Florence, will show the quality of new techniques used for digital picture taking.

Finally, aspects of Ancient Rome, towns and villages of Italy, between 1890 and 1950, will bring back the look amateur or professional photographers from Belgium had. Far from the usual photos, these “ricordi d’Italia” (memories from Italy) will delight all Italians for their beauty and poetry.
