ELinC: European Lacquer in Context

The ELinC project, which started in February 2014, is a collaboration project between the KIK-IRPA (Painting laboratory, coordinator), the Royal Museums of Art and History and the University of Antwerp (Faculty of Design Sciences) in the framework of the BRAIN action (Belgian Research through Interdisciplinary Networks) of the Belgian Science Policy Office with the Getty Conservation Institute as a fourth, unofficial partner. The project focuses on the study of the technological evolution of European lacquer in our regions, with special attention to japanned objects in the collections of the Royal Museums of Art and History.
