How to get here

The Royal Institute for Cultural Heritage (KIK-IRPA) is located in the heart of Brussels: Parc du Cinquantenaire 1, 1000 Brussels, Belgium.

The entrance to the building is located along Avenue de la Renaissance, opposite number 42. (You can enter this address into your sat nav.)

The building is accessible to people with disabilities.

By public transport

Metro: lines 1 and 5 (Merode or Schuman)

Bus: lines 22, 27, 80 (Merode) and 61 (Chevalerie / Ridderschap)

Tram: line 81 (Merode)

By bike

The Institute is easily accessible by bicycle. There are several Villo! stations in the area.

There is a cycle path around Cinquantenaire Park and a bicycle shed in front of our building.

Arriving by car

The Institute does not have a car park, and there is limited parking space in the vicinity.

To request a consultation or a quote for the examination or treatment of a privately owned work of art, please use the request form.

Send it by e-mail to info@kikirpa.be. Include photos of the front and, if possible, the reverse side of the object.

After receiving the form, we will gladly guide you in choosing the most suitable analysis technique, study or treatment.


The fees for determining the state of preservation, for scientific imaging and for scientific analyses are calculated according to the type of examination and the time required for the work (number of visits on site, etc.).

Opening hours of the Institute

Our specialists are available for your questions and requests from Monday to Friday between 8 am and 4 pm, by appointment only.

This year the Institute will be closed on the following days:

  • Thursday 9 and Friday 10 May
  • Monday 20 May
  • Thursday 15 and Friday 16 August
  • Friday 1 November
  • Monday 11 November
  • Friday 15 November

Opening hours of the Information Centre

You are welcome to use the Information Centre reading room:

  • on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday WITHOUT appointment, from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm and from 1.30 pm to 5.30 pm
  • on Mondays and Wednesdays by appointment only (infotheek@kikirpa.be).
