The Ghent Altarpiece

The immense amount of literature that has emerged around the Ghent Altarpiece presents a special challenge for anyone who researches this masterpiece by the brothers Hubert and Jan van Eyck. Over the years, hundreds of articles have been published in different languages, as well as numerous monographs and exhibition catalogs. In addition to these scientific contributions, there is a whole series of publications aimed at a more general audience. Moreover, the subjects studied are very diverse, a variety that does not make it easier to compile an overview of the literature that aims to be both complete and relevant.
