Les solvants

This second conservation course reviews the field of solvents: firstly their physical and chemical properties, then a description of the main solvents used in conservation, and finally their precise applications. The author concentrates exclusively on the operation of cleaning a painting as such, with a view to making it as controllable as possible. He avoids any aesthetic concerns and offers no debate on whether a painting should be cleaned or not.
